Ex-Red star Bryan Roy reveals what left him in awe of Nottingham Forest

Former Nottingham Forest striker Bryan Roy has told how a Panini sticker of ex-Red and childhood hero Trevor Francis is one of his first memories of the club, before going on to reveal what left him in awe of the former European Champions.

The Dutch forward scored 25 goals in 90 appearances for the Reds and was a popular man at the City Ground between 1994 and 1997.

Talking on the Reservoir Red Dogs podcast, he admitted that before signing, he did not know much about the city but instead remembered one of his idols Francis from his sticker collection when he was a child.

He said: "When you were young, you had those Panini stickers. It was always Trevor Francis, England and Nottingham Forest.

"I always remember that. I always watched him on TV when I got the chance. I was a big fan of Trevor Francis when I was a young boy"

Roy enjoyed a successful stint in the Midlands as Forest reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup.

He gave further obscure memories of the club before he actually joined, even stating the Reds' badge left him in awe.

"The best thing that I remember was always the Forest logo. I remember thinking ‘wow, that’s a great logo'.

"It brings back memories, absolutely positive ones. I had some amazing years here."
