Ex-Rangers star Graham Dorrans joins Johnstone Burgh as new club boss opens up on signing coup

Johnstone Burgh have pulled off a major coup by snapping up Graham Dorrans.

The former Rangers, West Brom and Norwich star has made the move to the seventh tier of Scottish football with the 35-year-old to hook up with his new club in the summer to prepare for the 2023/24 campaign.

Manager Jamie McKim has explained how the deal was sealed as he labelled the experiences in the game from the former Scotland international as 'extremely valuable' for his new team-mates while he has hailed the ambition it shows for landing such a big signing. He explained: "I first met Graham around four years ago on the UEFA B Licence course and I can't wait to work with him now. His career speaks for itself, and I'm certain he will be an excellent addition to the club.

"His experience at the highest level of the professional game will be extremely valuable to his team-mates, and this will be an important first step in creating an environment where only the best is acceptable going forwards.

"Graham is really looking forward to getting started and I'm certain his team-mates will benefit greatly from what he will bring to the training pitch and in games. In terms of his ability and his professionalism, which he has always been noted for throughout his career, you couldn't ask for more to drive this great club forward.

"I think this signing again show the ambition we have at Johnstone Burgh FC and hopefully this is the beginning of the next successful chapter in our history."

A club statement read: "Johnstone Burgh are delighted to announce the signing of Graham Dorrans.

"An ex-Scotland international, Dorrans joins us after a spell with Dunfermline Athletic in SPFL League One.

"Graham started his career at Livingston, with a loan move to Partick Thistle during that time, before moving south to play the English Premier League with West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City. He returned to Scotland in 2017, playing for Rangers for three seasons before moving to Dundee.

"After a spell at Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-League, Dorrans returned to play for Dunfermline last season. Graham will join our squad in the summer to prepare for season 2023/24."
