Ex-Rangers star and Motherwell coach Maurice Ross delivers brutal Celtic formation verdict after 'basic' Old Firm errors

Motherwell coach and former Rangers star Maurice Ross blasted Celtic's formation after Old Firm derby day defeat last night.

The Steelmen reserve manager was brutal in his verdict about the back three of Shane Duffy, Kris Ajer and Stephen Welsh in the 2-0 loss at Parkhead.

When asked about where it went wrong for the Hoops on BBC Sportsound, the Fir Park coach didn't hold back.

He told the BBC : "Look at the formation, 3-5-2, and how Celtic approached it; Rangers play in a flat 4-3-3. The midfield are narrow, the forwards are narrow and you have Celtic playing with three at the back.

"By the way Scott Brown drops in to take the ball off of £40,000 a week - so straight away Celtic are 6 v 10. Rangers are in full control.

"You talk about Rangers defended the box, Rangers didn't need to defend their box.

"For me, the way Celtic played it and their understanding of 3-5-2 looks very basic and Rangers were in second gear.

"If you could super-impose a different coloured strip on Celtic it didn't look like a Rangers v Celtic game."
