Ex-Rangers defender snapped up by Hamilton Accies on season-long loan deal

Former Rangers defender Lee Hodson has signed on loan for Hamilton Accies from Gillingham.

The Northern Ireland international spent time at St Mirren on loan last term after leaving Ibrox for The Gills in League One.

The 28-year-old has also turned out for Kilmarnock on a temporary deal while on the books at MK Dons.

Boss Brian Rice has now made the move to bring the versatile defender to New Douglas Park to bolster the backline.

Hodson told the club website: "It’s been in the pipeline for quite some while now, I’m delighted we’ve finally got it over the line, I’m now a Hamilton player till the end of the season and I can’t wait to get out there and play football.”

“Hopefully I can bring some experience to the squad and help the younger lads out.

"The gaffer has told me a lot of good things and obviously seeing this today in training, I can see there’s young players with potential.

"I’m just looking forward to continuing my training getting to know the lads more.”
