Right out of the gate in 2017, the Raiders were rolling. They beat a future playoff team in the Titans to open the season and beat down the Jets 45-20 in Week 2. It appeared this team was on their way to becoming a team to tend with in the AFC.
Then, came a “Monday Night Football” game against the Redskins. That is where everything seemed to fall apart for the Raiders. They were embarrassed by Washington, losing 27-10 as they put up their worst offensive performance of the season.
This was the week of Donald Trump’s emphatic tweet that set the NFL ablaze leading to demonstrations across the league. There were a lot of rumors floating around about what caused the riff in the Raiders locker room.
