A former police officer admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a woman in front of her child and encouraging the woman to send inappropriate images of her daughter, aged 10.
Paul Clayton, 45, was sentenced alongside the woman in court on November 16.
The former detective, from Humberside, pleaded guilty in Bristol Crown Court to encouraging or assisting an offence to be committed, downloading and possessing child abuse images, sexual communication with a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual activity with a child and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
Hull Live reports that a woman aged 43, whose name has been withdrawn to protect her daughter's anonymity, pleaded guilty to two charges of distributing two photos of her child to Clayton, facilitating him having sexual activity and engaging in sexual activity with him in the presence of her child.
Judge Martin Picton said: "These are really serious offences.
"The harm on the victims will be life-long."
Both defendants were handed Sexual Harm Prevention Orders designed to stop them from re-offending.
They were both put on the Sex Offenders Register and were barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.
Police in Bristol investigating a separate child exploitation case had uncovered a man in Hull having conversations with an offender online.
Bristol Crown Court heard police were able to trace Paul Clayton, a former Humberside Police officer, and establish a series of offences relating to him.
The judge jailed Clayton for five years and the woman for 29 months.
