Former prime minister Chavalit Yongchaiyudh, 86, has married for the fourth time, to a 53-year-old woman, with Thai media quoting him saying he had divorced his previous wife about 10 years ago.
Gen Chavalit admitted there was a new woman in his life after pictures of his wedding went viral on social media.
Media identified her as Orathai Sorakan. Gen Chavalit was quoted as saying he had divorced Khunying Pankhrua, also known as "Khunying Louise", about a decade ago. His new wife is from Nakhon Sawan province and they had moved into their new house in the Kaset-Nawamin area of Bangkok, he said.
His new wife had been close to him and took good care of him when he was ill, Gen Chavalit was quoted as saying. He respected her and always took her with him to social functions, the former prime minister said.
