Ex-Patriot predicts how Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will do without each other

As the National Football League season gets closer, speculation is beginning to swirl about how Bill Belichick and Tom Brady will do without each other.

One former Patriot has a prediction as to how 2020 will play out.

Heath Evans played with New England from 2005-2008. He went on to enjoy a successful 11-year career that included a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints in 2009. In four seasons with the Patriots, he would rush for 453 yards and three touchdowns. He fit New England’s offense well, as they used him quite frequently. As we have seen over the years, Bill Belichick loves to use fullbacks.

Now, Evans believes that Belichick and his former quarterback will be able to sustain success without each other.

“People might have questions, but I have no doubt Tommy is going to be brilliant without Bill,” Evans told the Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian. “Will it be like it was for him in New England? I don’t know. But Tommy is a freakin’ machine. His brain didn’t go anywhere. His game-planning strategies didn’t go anywhere. He’s going to be great for the Bucs.”

“Bill is Bill,” Evans said. “He’s going to have his team locked and loaded. He’s going to know what they’re capable of, and what they’re not capable of, he’ll keep them in the box. He’ll have them grow every week. He’ll take (Jarrett) Stidham, and develop a game plan that puts them in the best position to win, and we’ll see if there’s still enough defensive talent on the roster to play the complementary style of football that will be demanded. It’s having a bend-but-don’t break defense, a ball-control offense, and win games when it matters in the fourth.”

It will be intriguing as to how this plays out for the two of them. It will put an end to the debate of who has needed the other more. In any event, this season will certainly have a different feel to it.
