Football manager Alan Pardew has been banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding in his £80,000 Porsche.
The 64-year-old former Crystal Palace, Newcastle, and West Ham boss, racked up a series of driving offences which landed him in the dock on Monday.
In the latest one, Pardew was caught on a speed camera while driving a Porsche Macan on the South Circular in Clapham.
He attended Bexley magistrates court to plead to be spared a ban, saying he needed to drive to look after his elderly mother.
But the magistrates ruled that Pardew’s situation did not amount to exceptional hardship.
Court papers show Pardew was driving at 26mph at just after midday on February 21, in a 20mph limited stretch of the road.
His lawyer wrote a letter in August to say that Pardew admits the offence and intends to turn up to court to argue against receiving a driving ban.
“In accordance with Schedule 2 Road Traffic Offenders Act our client will be at risk of 3 points”, wrote a lawyer from Patterson Law.
“At the time of the offence our client had 9 points on their licence, so will be at risk of a 6 month disqualification for totting 12 or more points during a 3 year period.
“Our client intends to attend Court and present an exceptional hardship argument.”
At court on Monday, Pardew told the court: “I'm just trying to keep her life as normal as possible after the loss of her husband”, the Daily Mail reported.
“She doesn't want to live with myself or my sister, she wants to be at home. She wants to live in the house where she lived with her partner.
“She's on her own. We have talked about perhaps bringing her back to London, but she doesn't want that.
“She's quite emotional, we lost my brother this year as well, she's not in a great mental space. I would worry.”

The speed charge was first brought by the Metropolitan Police under the Single Justice Procedure. The lawyer’s letter brought it to an open court hearing in front of magistrates.
Court papers show Wimbledon-born Pardew admitted being the driver when he was written to at his home.
He played for Palace, Charlton and Spurs during his playing days, and went on to managing with his first post at Reading in 1998.

Pardew achieve promotion to the Premier League while in charge of West Ham, and guided them to an FA Cup final.
He repeated the feat in 2016 with Palace but lost out 2-1 to Manchester United.
Pardew’s last managerial appointment was at Greek side Aris Thessaloniki, where he spent just over five months before departing in February 2023.
He has since been a regular football pundit, including for Talksport.
Magistrates usually impose automatic driving bans when a defendant has amassed 12 or more penalty points.
Those in danger of disqualification can argue to be spared, if not being able to drive will cause them or their family “exceptional hardship”.
