Ex-Notts County defender Haydn Hollis to spark fight for signature?

Former Notts County defender Haydn Hollis has been released by Forest Green Rovers after they failed to reach the League Two play-off final.

Tranmere Rovers secured their place at Wembley earlier this week when they overcame Mark Cooper’s side to win 2-1 on aggregate to book their place at Wembley.

Rovers have wasted no time in releasing their retained list as a result of that disappointment and former Notts defender Hollis is among eight players to be released.

Notts County will be the biggest scalp in the National League next season

Hollis had joined Rovers from Notts in January last year having made more than 110 league appearances for the club having graduated from the academy.

But he found it hard to nail down a regular place in Rovers’ starting 11 and has played just 20 league and cup games during his time at the New Lawn.

He spent this season out on loan at  National League side Chesterfield where he played regularly and finished the campaign with more than 35 games under his belt.

Notts County joint favourites to win the National League next season

But despite that form Rovers did not want to keep him and along with seven other players has not been offered a new deal.

The other players free to leave the club  are Gavin Gunning, Scott Laird, Lee Collins, Isaac Pearce, Jordan Simpson, Fabien Robert and former Notts loanee Tahvon Campbell.
