Ex-Notts County boss Jamie Fullarton makes shock exit from National League rivals

Jamie Fullarton has walked out on Notts County's National League rivals FC Halifax Town, just three weeks before their first game of the season.

The former Meadow Lane chief spent just 17 months in charge at the Shay Stadium, guiding the Shaymen to a 15th-placed finish last term.

Fullarton, 44, managed 12 games in charge of the Magpies back in 2016, winning three.

He joined West Yorkshire side Halifax back in February 2018 in his first managerial role since leaving Notts, but on Monday the club announced on their website that he had decided to leave with immediate effect:

"We’d like to thank Jamie for his contribution and efforts throughout the last season and a half, both on and off the pitch."

The statement continued: "We will seek to appoint a new manager within the coming days, who will shape and finalise the playing squad for the 2019/20 season."

During his time at Halifax, Fullarton was responsible for overseeing the club's transition from part-time football to a full-time model, which has proved a great success.

Notts County and Halifax Town are set to meet on September 9 at Meadow Lane.
