Ex-Nottingham Forest striker reveals his managerial choice to succeed Chris Hughton

Nottingham Forest are set to appoint former Swansea City manager Steve Cooper following the sacking of Chris Hughton.

Forest sit rock bottom of the Championship table with a draw and six defeats to their name.

The former Swans manager is the frontrunner to take over at the City Ground, with compensation reportedly agreed.

However, ex-Reds' striker Nigel Jemson would like to have seen former Bournemouth head coach Eddie Howe at the helm.

He told This is Futbol: "One person for me, who's without a job and I would like to see down there, would be Eddie Howe."

Howe has been out of work since leaving the Cherries in 2020 following a three-year (2008-2011) and then an eight-year spell (2012-2020) on the south coast.

During his time there, the 31-year-old saved Bournemouth from dropping out of the Football League, secured three promotions, and enjoyed five heady seasons in the Premier League, as the Cherries established themselves as a top-flight team.

Howe was set to join Scottish Premiership outfit Celtic before the deal fell through between the two parties.

As previously reported by NottinghamshireLive , Howe was 3/1 favourite to join the City Ground, but the betting odds have now changed to 16/1, as Cooper is set to become Forest's new manager.
