Ex-Nottingham Forest striker outlines credentials Chris Hughton successor must have

Former Nottingham Forest striker Robert Earnshaw described the perfect manager he would like to see at the City Ground as the club close in on appointing former Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper.

Earnshaw spent three seasons at Forest between 2008-2011, making over 110 appearances while scoring 45 times and seems to have a clear picture of what he would like to see in the next manager.

In a recent appearance for the 72+ podcast, he said: "With Nottingham Forest it’s great if you play an attractive style of football. Because that’s what the football club has a history of but also demands. So I think how somebody coaches and what their style is as a manager and I think it doesn’t matter about the experience much.

“More of what is their potential as a manager or head coach. You need somebody who is strong enough to understand it (the club), but also can make the big decisions as well."

Given Forest's current situation, sitting rock bottom of the Championship with a solitary point from a draw and six defeats, the style of play may not be as close to supporters' hearts at the moment.
