Ex-Nottingham Forest rookie Anel Ahmedhodzic tipped as £7m Chelsea target

Former Nottingham Forest prospect Anel Ahmedhodzic is now reportedly on Chelsea's shopping list.

The 21-year-old is attracting top scouts from across Europe to Malmo, according to Swedish newspaper Expressen - and that includes Chelsea, who are said to be preparing a £6.9m bid and five-year contract.

He left Forest in January 2019 after being on the first team fringes for just under three years.

The youngster, who can play as centre-back or in defensive midfield, was often tipped as the next big thing to come through the Nigel Doughty Academy but he never made the final jump to become a regular.

Nottingham Forest's issues pre date Chris Hughton, they're a side who can't seem to lift themselves from a slump

He has since broken into the Bosnia and Herzegovina squad and Expressen report: Ahmedhodzic has made a breakthrough in Swedish and international football with a bang in 2020.

"The midfielder's progress has attracted attention from several European clubs. Now Kvallposten can reveal that Premier League giants Chelsea are ready to try to tie up the talent."

Ahmedhodzic has previously paid tribute to his upbringing in the East Midlands.

He said last year: “I have been educated in English football. It's tough in general but Nottingham is known for having a particularly tough youth programme.

“It's very physical and hard work. I have grown a few centimeters but gone up about 11 kilos since I came to England. It shows a little how it is.

“There are also more physical duels than in Sweden. I've learned a lot, even though I've been stuck to playing football along the ground from the backline.”
