Ex-Nottingham Forest midfielder branded 'exceptional' seals League One move

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder John Bostock has sealed a shock move to League One promotion-chasers Doncaster Rovers.

The former Tottenham and Crystal Palace ace was a free agent after leaving French side Toulouse.

But Rovers have won the race in what represents an excellent signing for the League One side although he was not signed in time to make his debut against Wimbledon on Tuesday night.

Bostock was only on loan at Forest last season and made nine appearances for the Reds before heading back to France where he left Toulouse by mutual consent last October.

Speaking about the deal to sign Bostock, boss Darren Moore said: “I’m really pleased that we’ve managed to secure the signing.

“I’m really pleased to get him in. He’s an exceptional player and one we’re really pleased to have in the club.

“He’s a player that fits in with the culture and DNA that we’ve tried to bring to this club over the last season and a half.

“I know John personally, I’ve known him before this and we’ve spoken.

“We’ve had contact earlier on in the season and we’ve taken the opportunity when he returned from France. I know the situation he was in.

“For us to get him here, and the work we’ve done, it’s a credit to everyone in the club.

“And I’d like to thank John personally for giving us the opportunity to work with him and go forward.

“The platform is there for him to play some real games.

“We’re trying to get his levels of fitness up to a standard that we feel is really going to benefit him as and when he’s available to play.

“When that is, he will be a wonderful addition for us.”

The 29-year-old has been training with Rovers for the last week and put pen to paper on terms on Monday.
