Ex-Nottingham Forest man Roy Keane joins Sky Sports for remainder of the season

Former Nottingham Forest player and assistant boss Roy Keane will appear as a regular pundit on Sky Sports for the remainder of the season.

The legendary Manchester United midfielder has appeared on Sky's Premier League coverage in the past but will now assume a more common role in their punditry team.

Keane left Forest during the summer in the hope of returning to first-team managment, just a week before Martin O'Neill was relieved of his duties on Trentside.

He was briefly linked with roles at Doncaster Rovers and Derby County during his time out of work but job vacancies have been few and far between.

“I’ve worked with Sky Sports quite a few times over the years and it’s always been an experience I’ve enjoyed, so this makes absolute sense,” Keane said in a statement on Sky Sports' website.

“While I’m not coaching I still want to be involved in the game and in some ways, this is the next best thing.

“It’s a game of opinions, I’ve never shied away from giving mine and that’s only going to continue this season. Sky Sports has always been famous for the heated debates – I look forward to starting a few more.”
