Ex-Nottingham Forest goalkeeper makes Scottish Premiership move

Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Colin Doyle has joined Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock on loan from Hearts.

The 35-year-old who made his Reds debut in an FA Cup fifth round tie against Tottenham in 2004, spent half a season on loan at the City Ground, albeit playing just four times before returning to parent club Birmingham City having been understudy to Paul Gerrard.

Doyle has been brought in by Killie after number one Jake Eastwood picked up a serious injury and likely to be sidelined for a number of months.

The experienced Republic of Ireland international, is set to compete with Danny Rogers for the number one shirt, and will stay at Rugby Park until January.

“I’m really pleased to join Kilmarnock and I’m excited by the opportunity to play football again,” he told the club website.

“I’m looking forward to meeting up with the lads tomorrow and hopefully I can show what I can do for the team whenever I’m given an opportunity.”

Killie will be Doyle’s ninth club, after stints with the likes of Bradford City, Coventry, Millwall and Blackpool.
