Ex-Nottingham Forest coach lands key role at Jamie Vardy's US football club

Former Nottingham Forest assistant coach Bruno Baltazar has been appointed as the head coach of Rochester New York FC, Jamie Vardy's American soccer franchise.

The Leicester City striker became a co-owner of the club in the summer, buying a minority stake and overseeing a rebranding of the formerly known Rhinos.

The club are relaunching for a return to professional football next season and will enter the newly created MLS Next Pro League with Baltazar at the helm.

The Portuguese tactician was at the City Ground for a year, working alongside head coach Sabri Lamouchi until the management team were sacked in October last year.

Baltazar's assistant head coach will be Guilherme Ramos, who was also a member of Forest's backroom staff.

"I’m really proud and happy to sign contract with Rochester New York FC," Baltazar wrote on Instagram after he was confirmed as the new Rochester boss.

"I want to thank David and Wendy Dworkin, Jamie @vardy7, John Morris from @wassermanfootball and Lee Tucker for the trust.

"Can’t wait to travel to Rochester to start to work on this MLS journey and meet all the people at the club and the RNYFC fans. #BelieveImpossible."

Jamie Vardy also commented on the appointment, saying: "As a group, we were extremely impressed with Bruno's presentation, which outlined his coaching philosophy - something that was in sync with the club's own vision and style of play."
