Ex-Northern Ireland youth international Danny Devine signs two-year deal with Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Former Northern Ireland Under 21 international Danny Devine has returned to Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Devine has signed a two-year deal with the Scottish Championship after leaving Dunfermline Athletic.

The 27-year-old was part of Inverness' 2015 Scottish Cup-winning side, and was also part of the League Cup final squad that lost on penalties to Aberdeen the previous year.

Former Lisburn Distillery and Linfield youth defender Devine admits it was a "no-brainer" returning to Caley-Thistle.

Speaking to the Inverness Courier, he said: “As soon as Inverness showed a bit of interest, I was keen.

“Coming back here was always something I wanted to do.

“My first time here was obviously amazing. I had a lot of success with the club and I love it up here as well.

“Once they came in for me, I had no other club in mind. It was a no-brainer for me. I had the best moments of my career up here.

“I’ve nothing but good memories from being here.

“Even when I left, I’d come up for games. I’ve still got a lot of friends at the club and connections locally.

“There are boys here – Aaron Doran, James Vincent, Miles Storey – who were here when I was. I kept in contact with those boys and we’re good friends.

“They had nothing but good things to say about the club currently and the ambitions of the club.”

Devine arrives after spending two years at Dunfermline; he previously played in the Scottish top flight with Partick Thistle.

His first spell with Inverness was between 2013-16.
