Former Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn was released on Wednesday after posting 1 billion yen (about 9 million dollars) bail.
The Tokyo District Court rejected the prosecutors' appeal against his release on Tuesday night.
According to the court and one of Ghosn's lawyers, Junichiro Hironaka, conditions for his release include residing in Tokyo and not traveling abroad, as well as installing surveillance cameras at the entrances and exits to his residence that will be monitored by his lawyers.
Ghosn, 64, had been detained in the Tokyo Detention House in the Kosuge district since he was arrested on Nov. 19 by the special investigation squad of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office on suspicion of understating his remuneration in the company's annual securities reports. Later, he was charged with aggravated breach of trust in violation of the Companies Law.
After the court granted the bail, Ghosn released a statement declaring his innocence. "I am extremely grateful for my family and friends who have stood by me throughout this terrible ordeal," Ghosn said in the statement.
