On the latest episode of his popular Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, former Tennessee Titans player Taylor Lewan had some thoughts about his and his co-host Will Compton’s lack of invitation to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding.
NFL athletes such as Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, George Kittle and Kareem Hunt helped make up the 1,000-strong guest list at the nuptials between Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce and pop superstar Swift on Friday, July 3.
The pair tied the knot in a highly secretive Madison Square Garden ceremony attended by reams of celebrities.
Lewan addressed the wedding on Tuesday’s podcast episode, where he revealed he congratulated Kelce over text, who responded to him “pretty quick.” Kelce has appeared on Bussin’ With The Boys on several occasions.
However, after reading through the guest list, Lewan started to question why he had been snubbed.
“Dude, when I saw that Dean Blandino got invited,” Lewan said, referencing the Fox Sports rules analyst. “Dean Blandino was there and it’s like, okay now I’m starting to think to myself, ‘is this a personal shot that Will [Compton] and I are taking?’”
“Cooper Kupp’s there,” Lewan continued, “You didn’t play with Cooper Kupp!”
Lewan also called out the fact that the entire family of San Francisco 49ers tight end Kittle appeared to have been invited.
“They’re close but, like, yo, we’re boys! I’ve known you for over 10 years,” Lewan said of Kelce.
“We text and call each other,” he continued. “I’m just thinking, dude, I’m clearly doing something wrong in our friendship, clearly something wrong. … There’s clearly a blind spot I’m not seeing.”
Lewan went on to share his recent texts with Kelce, including his congratulations on the wedding and on signing a three-year contract extension with the Chiefs recently.
Lewan tempered his remarks by saying he was “not taking away from how amazing this wedding probably was... I’m not taking away from all these people going there.”
However, he asked what the capacity of MSG was before adding, “So what you’re telling me is I’m not top 9,500 in Travis’s life? He doesn’t have 9,500 [people] in his phone.”
His comments come after his co-host Compton said he was “kind of flabbergasted” that he didn’t get an invite.
Swift’s representative shared a few key details with The Independent immediately after the ceremony had concluded, including that she chose not to have a bridal party, instead asking her brother, Austin, to be her “man of honour.”
Kelce had his brother, Jason, as best man, while the couple’s ceremony was officiated by none other than comedy icon Adam Sandler, a longtime friend and champion of Swift’s.
