Ex-NFL QB Anthony Wright shot multiple times

Former NFL quarterback Anthony Wright was shot multiple times Monday in Concord, NC, the Independent Tribune is reporting.

Concord Police issued a press release stating that officers were called to an area, where gunshots were reported. Officers found Wright, who hails from Vanceboro, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital and rushed into emergency surgery.

Wright was listed in stable condition.

Wright played college football at The University of South Carolina and spent eight seasons in the NFL with multiple teams. Wright was on the New York Giants when they won the Super Bowl in 2008.

Wright started for Cincinnati and Dallas. He was 8-11 overall, with 14 of the starts coming as a Cowboy.

According to the paper, Wright got into a verbal altercation with his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, police said. This altercation began when the “Ex” showed up to drop off his daughter. An argument ensued and shots were fired. Concord Police are looking for the alleged shooter, William “Willie” Moses Hooker Jr.

The Concord Police Department has issued a warrant on Hooker Jr. for assault with a deadly weapon Inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
