Ex-Newcastle forward Salomon Rondon has found himself a new club

Salomon Rondon has joined Russian outfit CSKA Moscow on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The former Newcastle United forward has joined Rafa Benitez in leaving Chinese outfit Dalian Pro, although, unlike the Spaniard, it is just on a temporary basis.

The Venezuela international has averaged a goal every two games in the Chinese Super League and has returned to Russia after previous goal-laden spells with Rubin Kazan and Zenit St Petersburg.

Rondon won the league title with the latter and will now hope to do the same with the Russian capital club.

Announcing the move on his Twitter account, the 31-year-old said: "New experience, same excitement!

"An honour to wear the CSKA Moscow shirt!"

Rondon, of course, spent a successful season-long loan spell from West Brom with Newcastle in the 2018/19 campaign.

His 12 goals in 33 appearances helped the Magpies steer clear of relegation and Benitez was keen to sign him on a permanent transfer after striking up a positive relationship up front with Ayoze Perez and Miguel Almiron.

Rondon dubbed S t James' Park his 'jungle' and very much enjoyed his relationship with the fans.

But when the club would not sanction his permanent transfer, Rondon joined Benitez in China, making a lucrative move to Dalian Pro.
