MUMBAI: Former Mumbai pacer Vighnesh Shahane has won the 'CEO of the Year' award at the Indian Achievers Award for 2020-21. Shahane has been the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ageas Federal Life Insurance Company Limited since 2014.
Shahane, a product of BCA Mafatlal's bowling scheme back in 1990, played five first-class games for Mumbai and Rajasthan spread over three years, in which he picked 11 wickets@44.81.
"It's a great privilege to be recognised and given this honour. It will only motivate me to work harder to boost insurance penetration and secure the lives of more Indians as also do our little bit at Ageas Federal to keep promoting the sports culture," Shahane told TOI on Friday.
"Under his leadership, the company has attained numerous milestones and awards, notably the recording of eight consecutive years of net profit, wiping out all accumulated losses, declaring maiden dividend and being recognised as one of the Top 10 Most Trusted Life Insurance Brands in the country by ET Brand Equity. The company also recorded a total Premium CAGR of 14.3% from FY14 to FY20.The last couple of years have been turbulent, with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic causing stress and anxiety across the globe. Amidst this uncertainty, Vighnesh deftly steered the company through troubled waters, allowing it to emerge stronger on the other side," said a release from the organisers.
A post-graduate from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, Shahane has over 25 years of experience in consumer banking and life insurance.
