The Criminal Court on Tuesday sentenced former Pheu Thai MP Prasit Chaisrisa to two years in jail for having a helmet and a bullet-proof vest stolen from anti-riot soldiers in 2010.
The court found Prasit, 53, guilty of having the warfare products in the boot of his car on April 22, 2010.
Police found that the military products were stolen when soldiers cracked down on anti-government red-shirt demonstrators on April 10, 2010. Prasit was among the demonstrators.
The 3,745-baht helmet was stolen from Sgt Chanayut Khomsakhon of the 1st Army. He was beaten by at least three demonstrators in Dusit district.
Prasit earlier denied the charges of illegally possessing warfare products and receiving stolen objects.
The court dismissed his argument that he had been unaware the military gear had been put in the boot of his car after being shown onstage for red-shirt demonstrators.
Prasit would appeal the ruling.
The former MP for Surin province was earlier sentenced to two years and six months in prison for lese majeste. He was released after one year and 10 months behind bars when he received a second royal pardon in March 2016.
