Ex-Man City star Trevor Sinclair apologises after deleted tweet causes outrage among Liverpool fans

Trevor Sinclair has taken to social media to apologise for a bizarre message which offended some Liverpool fans following Man City's win over Burnley on Tuesday evening.

The former Man City winger was called out by many Reds supporters after his strange post to Twitter, which read: "Bin dippers we’re coming for you."

This followed Pep Guardiola's side's 4-1 victory at Turf Moor which saw them climb within eight points of league leaders Liverpool.

The post which has been since deleted was followed up 19 minutes later with a tweet which said: "So sensitive...clam down you're still 8 points ahead".

On Wednesday morning, Sinclair offered an apology to any fan who had been offended by the message.

"To any fan that was offended by what I wrote last night I apologize," the 46-year-old wrote. "It was a throw away line regarding closing the gap.

"It wasn't my intention to offend anyone, especially from a social stance. I'm a working class lad and understand how it's been taken. Sorry"

Jurgen Klopp's side will have a chance to go 11 points clear of City with a win over Everton in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Leicester City could go three points ahead of Guardiola's men with victory against Watford at the King Power.
