Ex-Man City defender questions why Jurgen Klopp beat Pep Guardiola at The Best FIFA awards

Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills has questioned the decision to name Jurgen Klopp as the Best FIFA Men's Coach ahead of Pep Guardiola .

The Catalan guided the Citizens to another Premier League title last season, pipping Liverpool to top spot by just one point, as well as completing the domestic treble by winning the FA and Carabao Cup; the first team in England to complete such a feat.

On the other hand, Liverpool became European champions for the sixth time by defeating Tottenham in Madrid and Klopp believes his Champions League triumph was the only reason he won the award.

The German stated that Mauricio Pochettino would have been the recipient if his side emerged victorious in the final, but Mills feels that Guardiola deserved the award more than both of his rivals.

"So are people saying that Klopp is better than Guardiola?," he asked on talkSPORT . "Liverpool won the Champions League, which is sensational, but it’s a cup.

"Manchester City won the Premier League with the way they played and got 98 points."

Mills argues that Klopp's personality was the main reason he won the vote.

The ex-defender added: "It’s difficult to argue, because Liverpool went so close in the Premier League title and won the Champions League. Klopp  was  outstanding. But he’s also media friendly, isn’t he.

"If that would have been Mourinho coming second and winning the Champions League, would he have got the vote? No chance!

"We don’t always judge people solely on footballing ability, a lot of it comes down to personality."
