As another 12 tanned and toned contestants head into Love Island, two former contestants have called for a curvier cast.
“There should be representation across the board,” says 2019 winner Amber Gill, while Zara Holland called for more “relatable” hopefuls.
On tonight’s episode new arrivals including Amy Day, 25, Clarisse Juliette, 23, and 24-year-old Dale Mehmet will stir up Casa Amor and put couples to the test. But both of the former Islanders add producers face a struggle diversifying the cast.
Zara says: “The public are never going to be happy.

“If there were just girls who were a size 12-plus, you would get people going, ‘Well, why is there no size six and eights?’”
Amber adds: “You’ve got to have the right group of people that get along, the right people that fancy each other.

“It’s hard to make sure everybody matches well together while also making sure it’s good TV and that it’s diverse at the same time.
"You’ve got to have a mix of personalities.
“You can see there’s effort to try and make it more diverse and hopefully it gets even better in the future.”
It comes after some viewers described the villa’s string of blondes as looking like a “Hitler youth camp”.
A spokesman for the ITV2 series said: “This year’s Love Islanders come from a diverse range of backgrounds with a mix of personalities and have a healthy BMI.”
