Ex-Love Island star Laura Anderson brands Longford model Maura Higgins ‘a horror'

Former Love Island star Laura Anderson has branded Irish model Maura Higgins ‘a horror'.

Laura, who appeared on the 2018 series of the hit ITV2 show, blasted the Longford lady’s ‘outrageous’ behaviour.

The controversy kicked off when Irish bombshell Maura, 28, tried to force a reluctant Tommy to kiss her on the sofa last week.

And the moment has been a hot topic since the scenes aired on Friday, sparking 486 complaints to broadcasting regulator Ofcom.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday for a debate on whether Love Island was “dumbing us down”, Laura said: “Maura the horror - I don’t like her.”

“The way she’s acted is outrageous.

“I think [Love island] is about people falling in love not how much they’re having sex.”

GMB host Piers Morgan earlier voiced his own opinions on the controversial ring girl, suggesting that she should have to face consequences for her actions towards Tommy, 20.

Launching into a fierce rant, he said: “What part of no means no did Tommy not communicate there?

“It’s clear premeditated assault. She has to be dragged out of there and arrested.”

“She is known as Maura ‘the predator’ isn’t that right? Most of the complaints have been about her and her appauling attack on poor Tommy as he lay there.”

“If it was a bloke she’d be out of there, she’d be arrested, career ruined. No means no. Tommy looked like a victim to me.”

Hist co-host Susanna Reid also chimed in to give her view on the situation, saying it would have been different if the roles were reversed.

“If a man had done the same thing to a woman, it wouldn’t have been acceptable,” she declared.

But later on in the programme Piers blasted those complaining to Ofcom and told them to “get a life”.

He also said that the ITV2 contestants went on the show to “have sex with random strangers”.

The host said: “They go on there to have sex with random strangers.

“Their entire raison d’être is to find stupid people to have sex with.

“The whole point is that Maura is predatory. The only reason why Tommy is saying no is because he wants to be predatory to be other women in the villa.”
