Ex-Lorna Jane staffer loses damages claim

Amy Louise Robinson sought more than $570,000 for negligence.

A woman who was suing activewear retail company Lorna Jane has lost her claim for damages in a Brisbane court.

Ex-employee Amy Louise Robinson sought more than $570,000 for negligence after her area manager, Megan McCarthy, allegedly called her demeaning names, picked on her because of her weight and bullied her on social media.

Ms Robinson, 40, claimed Ms McCarthy's actions caused her psychiatric illness, with consequent loss of her employment and reduced her chances of getting a job, and triggered her pre-existing mixed personality disorder.

Ms Robinson said the allegations related to her time working at Brisbane's DFO store between July and December 2012.

Judge Gregory Koppenol said the 40-year-old "failed to prove her claim on the balance of probabilities" and both parties now had seven days to reach an agreement on costs.

During the trial in February this year, Ms Robinson spoke of how she suffered mentally because of a barrage of negative attacks by Ms McCarthy.

She also claimed she was unfairly assigned tasks resulting in physical injuries and which affected arrangements with child care.
