Ex-Liverpool star think Man City will be unbeatable with Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe latest

Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours media round-up, where we take a look at some of the most interesting Manchester City updates of the day.

After failing to sign a striker in the summer, City have been heavily linked with several frontmen since the transfer window closed and today is no different!

Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise highlighted how monumental it would be if the Premier League champions signed goal machine Erling Haaland.

Dusan Vlahovic is all set for a move away from Italy after Fiorentina's owner admitted negotiations have collapsed between the two parties - a development that could put City on alert.

Kylian Mbappe has made it clear, despite him wanting to leave PSG, that there is only one other club that he envisages joining.

Riise: City 'unbeatable' if they signed Haaland

Haaland is one of the hottest prospects in world football. The man is a bonafide goal machine and whoever is fortunate enough to sign him in the summer will be tipped to dominate European football for the coming years.

The link between Haaland and Manchester City goes deeper than just City needing a striker. Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge captained the Blues, so the Haaland family will know all about City.

Alfie's old Norway team-mate Riise discussed a potential Haaland transfer and, despite being desperate for him to join Liverpool, he believes Haaland at City would be formidable.

In an interview with Goal, Riise stated: "If City got him, wow! You talk about unbeatable teams, then that would be close!

"Whoever gets Haaland, whether it’s next season or whatever, is going to be an unbelievably strong team for many years to come.

"I don’t know if Liverpool have the chance to sign him, but if they do then please do, because that would be unbelievable for the club - or for any club that signs him!"

The thought of Erling Haaland leading the line with Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden behind him is simply frightening. Harry who?

City target Vlahovic pushes for Fiorentina exit

One name that has been recently linked to fill City’s striker vacancy is Serbia international Vlahovic. The 21-year-old has been hugely impressive during his time at Fiorentina, which explains why the board are so eager to keep him at the club.

However Rocco Benito Commisso, the Fiorentina owner, has all but confirmed Vlahovic will be leaving the Serie A club.

“Vlahovic has not accepted our huge contract extension proposal,” Commisso said. “We’ve been trying for months, but it’s over."

Vlahovic’s contract expires in 2023, so this summer will be Fiorentina’s only opportunity to make money from selling the young forward. City could be among the European heavyweights who see this as a huge opportunity.

Mbappe maps PSG exit

France superstar Mbappe would be a dream signing for every single club, but only one will tempt the 22-year-old.

City have been linked to Mbappe and it would make for one of the transfers of the century. However, the former Monaco youngster spoke to French newspaper L’Equipe and revealed his situation at PSG, including how close he was and perhaps still is to leaving Paris.

“PSG decided not to sell me and I was okay with that decision. Why did I want to go? I thought my adventure there was over, I wanted to discover a new thing. If I had left this summer, it would only have been to join Real Madrid. Leaving was a logical step in my career,” he explained.

“Is my departure confirmed? The truth of yesterday is not the truth of today, nor that of tomorrow," he added mysteriously.

“What would make me stay at PSG? We’re far from that, since I wanted to leave last summer. I won’t be a hypocrite and throw a bottle to the sea like 'Oh, I don’t know'. This summer, my goal was clear."

So it's Madrid or nothing then, Kylian? Honestly, Manchester is lovely in October - you don't know what you're missing.
