Ex-Liverpool star 'involved in Nabil Fekir transfer deal'

Lyon forward Nabil Fekir is being lined up by AC Milan, who could use former Liverpool player Suso as makeweight in the deal.

Fekir, who scored 12 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions for Lyon last season, has been on Liverpool's radar since last summer but could be set for Italy with Suso going the other way.

Suso came through the youth system at Liverpool but never managed to make much of an impression at Anfield, scoring just once in 21 senior appearances.

The Spaniard was sent on loan to Almeria before eventually joining Milan, where his career has finally begun to flourish.

He was an integral part of the first-team last season, playing in 35 Serie A games, but could be sacrificed in order for Milan to swoop for Fekir.

With only one year left on his contract, it is thought Lyon would accept a bid of around €40m for the player, and with Suso thrown into the deal they would most probably find a deal too tempting to resist.

Fekir is unlikely to be the only player leaving Lyon this summer, with the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Dembele and Memphis Depay also linked with moves.

Milan are looking to rebuild after another disappointing season which saw them finish fifth, just a point behind bitter rivals Inter Milan and surprise package Atalanta.

It means they will be without Champions League football again next season, the fifth season in a row in which they have failed to qualify for Europe's elite competition.

With Marco Giampaolo replacing Gennaro Gattuso as manager it is set to be yet another summer of transition for the club, who are desperate to return to being the elite club they once were.

They have also been linked with Arsenal's Lucas Torreira, and are set to launch a £35m bid in the coming days.
