Ex-Liverpool chief reveals why Spurs are Europe's leading club over the past 15 years

Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino deserve more credit for the work they've done at Tottenham Hotspur over the past decade, according to Ex-Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli.

The Lilywhites are just a few more sleeps away from taking part in the biggest game in the club's history; the 2019 Champions League final against Premier League rivals Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Regardless of the result, Spurs will be competing in the competition for a fourth successive campaign, they have a stunning new stadium and have competed the major honours ever since the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as manager.

All of which has been done under massive financial constraints and Comolli has certainly been impressed.

"What [Daniel and Mauricio] have achieved, I don’t think they get enough credit," Comolli told the Independent.

"I can’t think of any football club in Europe from the last 15 years that has made so much progress on and off the pitch: commercial, sponsorship revenues, quality of the squad, style of football played, the best stadium in the world, the best training ground in the world of football, getting to the Champions League final, every year competing in the Premier League, having the lowest wage bill of the top six.

"I don’t think they get enough credit for what they are doing, Daniel and Mauricio, and the people working with them.

"I think people should say what you are doing is incredible.

"There is no other example I can remember of doing what Daniel has done, for the last 15 years."
