Ex-Lions WR Golden Tate suspended 4 games for PED violation

Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate has been suspended for the first 4 games of the 2019 NFL season for a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. The league announced the suspension on Saturday.

Tate was a fan favorite and the Lions top receiver for four seasons before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in the middle of the 2018 season. He signed a lucrative new contract with the New York Giants this offseason, but the Giants will have to wait four games before they get the dynamic threat on the field…pending an appeal by Tate.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tate is confident in his appeal case. It will be heard in early August. Tate released a statement defending himself and explaining the circumstance:
