Luke Willson’s stay with his hometown Detroit Lions appears to be a short-lived one. The tight end from just across the Ambassador Bridge is a free agent after one underwhelming season with the Lions, and now Willson is actively shopping his talents elsewhere.
He found a taker in Oakland. Willson signed with the Raiders on Friday, the team announced via social media. Terms of the deal are not yet disclosed.
While never officially ruling it out, the Lions showed zero indication they had any interest in bringing back Willson for another year. The former Seahawk was a major disappointment as a free agent for the Lions in 2018, catching just 13 passes for 87 yards and failing to score a touchdown.
