Ex-Line of Duty star Craig Parkinson teases kiss for Kate and Jo in next episode

Former Line of Duty star Craig Parkinson has teased a kiss for Kate and Jo in next episode.

The actor played bent copper Matthew 'Dot' Cottan in the first three series of the BBC One crime drama and now fronts the BBC series companion podcast Obsessed with Line of Duty.

Throughout the sixth run so far DI Kate Fleming ( Vicky McClure ) has been shown to enjoy a close relationship with boss DCI Joanne Davidson ( Kelly Macdonald ).

The pair have gone out for drinks together and Jo has even been shown to be physically tactile with her, holding her hand to thank her in the opening episode.

Given that Jo has previously been in a lesbian relationship with her former subordinate PS Farida Jatri (Anneika Rose), some fans have speculated that her and Kate will become more than friends in the new episodes - despite concerns that Jo could be a corrupt officer with connections to organised crime.

Now Craig has teased fans with the prospect of a kiss between the characters when sharing a fan tweet.

On Monday, Craig quote-tweeted a fan's tweet which read: "craig please i just need to know if jo and kate kiss at least once".

The fan also shared a meme of Jo Davidson drinking a glass of wine with the caption "gay suffering".

Craig then commented in his own tweet: "Wait till episode 5".

The tease certainly sent some of Craig's followers wild as they were excited at the development.

One excited Twitter user penned: "if it doesn't happen I will do something drastic but if it does happen I will also definitely do something drastic".

Another wrote: "i swear if are messing with us the sapphics will riot".

Meanwhile, one follower replied: "craig mate please we can’t deal with this right now x".

"WAIT WHAT, please elaborate on this," replied one.

Finally, one fan of the show concluded: "THE PANIC YOUVE CAUSED TO THE GAYS [RIGHT NOW] IS UNBELIEVABLE".

Whether Craig has seen the episode in advance or had a heads-up is unknown, he may just be winding fans up!

We'll have to wait and see as the show returns on Sunday.

The official description for the next episode reads: "AC-12 link Gail Vella’s murder with a historic case of police corruption, and Kate hatches a plan to tell once and for all if Jo is bent.

"They are closer than ever to cracking the case, but when Hastings’ authority is undermined it leaves his team in a potentially dangerous situation."

Could Kate grow even close to Jo in an attempt to get to the truth?

*Line of Duty continues on Sundays at 9pm on BBC One, with past episodes available on BBC iPlayer.
