Ex-Leeds United striker 'gets revenge' on former owner Massimo Cellino after goal in Italy

Former Leeds United striker Mirco Antenucci has said that a goal against Brescia Calcio in the Serie B has helped him take 'small revenge' on former Whites owner Massimo Cellino.

Antenucci played for Leeds United from 2014 to 2016 but has said he would've liked to stay there longer but has accused Cellino of making sure he left the club.

Cellino owned the club from 2004 until 2017 when he sold it to the current owner, Andrea Radrizzani after which he took the money from the sale to buy Serie B side Brescia who suffered a harrowing 6-2 loss to SSC Bari on Tuesday.

One of the goalscorers was Mirco Antenucci, who left Leeds to join SPAL after not having automatic renewal in his contract. Reported by Tutto Bari, the 38-year-old explained to Gazzetta dello Sport that Cellino wanted him at the club no more.

"If I had scored 12 goals in my second year at Leeds, I would have had the automatic renewal. In December I was already at 8 and then Cellino, owner of the club, ordered not to play me anymore. I managed to reach ten before returning to Italy."

Cellino oversaw 13 long years in the Championship when owner of Leeds without promotion back to the English top-flight but has seen different results with Brescia in the five years as owner - promotion to the Serie A was achieved as champions in 2018 but the Italian outfit were relegated the season after.
