Ex-Leeds United man's scathing message to doomed Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town's personal pride should have kicked in 'a long, long time ago' according to former Leeds United and England defender Stephen Warnock.

The rock-bottom Terriers are 16 points from safety will be relegated if they lose to Crystal Palace and other results conspire against them this weekend, ending a two-year stay in the top flight.

Warnock believes the players owe it to the fans to show some fight in the final seven games of the season.

"To prevent going down with a whimper - going out with a bit of fight for your fans, you have to do that" he told Sky Sports .

"Personal pride must have kicked in by now - it should have kicked in a long, long time ago."

He added: "Sometimes you have to hold your hands up as well and say 'we are not good enough'.

"The players who've been brought in, the management might not be good enough, and sadly that's how it looks for those two teams."

Town have netted just 18 goals so far this season, four shy of the record for the fewest in the season, which came in Derby County's 2007-08 campaign.

Their record of seven goals at home all season is three short of Manchester City's 2006-07's tally.
