Ex-Leeds United man makes Patrick Bamford admission as fans spot Tim Sherwood u-turn

Here is your Leeds United morning digest on Friday, March 26.

Robinson makes Bamford and Southgate admission

Paul Robinson thinks Gareth Southgate was wrong not to include Patrick Bamford in the England squad.

The Leeds striker was snubbed in favour of Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins for the World Cup qualifiers over the next week.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, ex-Whites goalkeeper Robinson said: “It was great to see Patrick Bamford deliver a response to the England snub.

“I’m really disappointed that he missed out to Ollie Watkins – I don’t think he’s done anything that’s eclipsed what Bamford has done this season.

“I think if the manager was looking at Watkins and Bamford together, he’s picked the wrong one.

“Watkins has had a good season and he’s done well, but you look at the numbers that Bamford has produced. If there was a time that he was going to get in, this was it.

“It was a real opportunity to get his first England call-up with all the injuries. He’s going to be gutted that he’s missed out to Watkins.

“When you compare the numbers from the two players there’s only one striker that should have gone and Southgate has picked the wrong one.”

Rashford decision and what it means for Bamford

Bamford has had further salt rubbed in his wounds after Marcus Rashford was ruled out of England's clash with San Marino.

The Whites forward was "very close" to receiving a call-up according to Southgate and perhaps would've been included in the squad if Rashford was ruled out earlier.

For Bamford, that means the decision cuts even deeper with the Manchester United star being left out.

Despite his fitness doubts, a half-fit Rashford was still selected over the in-form Bamford.

Whites fan spot Sherwood u-turn over Leeds

Leeds supporters have spotted a u-turn from Tim Sherwood on Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The ex-Spurs boss accused the Whites of being "burnt out" after a tough run of form in December.

However, four months later and Sherwood has somewhat changed his tune on Bielsa 's team, who are looking to finish in the top 10 this season.

Speaking to Optus Sport, Sherwood said: "I thought they were supposed to be running out of gas at this point in the season - they look like they're getting stronger. Fantastic performance, love Bielsa, love Leeds."

Leeds fans haven't forgotten his previous comments, though, and have took to Twitter to express their thoughts.

One said: "Top man, he's definitely seen more of us now, understands how we work as a team, how fit we are, changed his opinion on us, and still gets slaughtered."

Another tweeted: "Bielsa burnout is a myth."
