Ex-Jets CB Morris Claiborne signs one-year deal with Chiefs

Former Jets cornerback Morris Claiborne has found a new home.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Terez Paylor, Claiborne and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a contract. It’s a one-year deal worth up to $1.5 million. Claiborne will fly out to Kansas City on Thursday and take a physical on Friday.

The 29-year-old cornerback will open up the 2019 regular season with a four-game suspension. Claiborne violated the NFL’s substance abuse policy and lost the appeal. His first action of the season will come in Week 5 against the Colts.

Claiborne spent the last two seasons with the Jets. In two seasons, he recorded a combined 100 tackles to go along with 22 pass defenses and three interceptions.

The Jets could’ve used Claiborne with their lack of depth at cornerback, but once the suspension came down it all but ended the chances of a reunion.
