Ex-Irish League star recalls run-in with Rangers legend Lorenzo Amoruso

Lee Feeney has recalled how he ended up in Lorenzo Amoruso's bad books less than a week after arriving at Rangers.

Feeney joined the Old Firm giants from Linfield back in 1998 in a deal worth £100,000.

One of his first commitments was to do an question and answer session for the club's match programme, and it was one answer that earned the wrath of fiery Italian defender Amoruso.

Feeney told Belfast Live's That's What I Call Football podcast : "The first week I went over to Rangers, they interviewed me for the match programme.

"They asked me, 'Who is the worst dresser at Rangers?', and I said Lorenzo Amoruso. He was the captain and a big personality at the time.

"I said he wears wooly jumpers with pictures of sheep on them.

"Anyway, he came into training one day and he went mad in front of everyone. He was shouting, 'Hey you, you saying I don't dress well'.

Lee Feeney is currently managing Bangor (INPHO/Presseye/Matt Mackey)

"Ian Ferguson pushed him out of the way and said, 'Here you, eff off'. But Lorenzo took it really bad and was trying to bust me in training.

"Now if that had been Linfield, or the Irish League, it would be a bit of banter. But he took it really thick.

"And I had to sit beside him every day at dinner. We had to sit in our certain seats.

"All picture and no sound."
