MIAMI _ When he was with the Miami Heat, guard Dwyane Wade had several nicknames.
There was Flash. There was D-Wade. And there was the forgettable WOW, short for Way of Wade.
Leave it to Heat coach Erik Spoelstra to create yet another moniker after his watching former player make his regular-season debut with the Chicago Bulls Thursday night. Wade, who has never been considered much of an outside shooter, made four 3-pointers in the Bulls' 105-99 victory against the Boston Celtics.
"Shoot, he looks like Dwyane Korver right now," Spoelstra said, referring to Atlanta Hawks 3-point ace Kyle Korver.
Wade, who left the Heat after 13 seasons, finished with 22 points on 7 of 18 shooting. His 3-pointer with 26.3 seconds served as the clincher.
"Don't let him fool you," Spoelstra said. "He would put up those kind of numbers during the playoffs when it really mattered, when defenses tightened up. He can answer that bell when needed. He can adapt to whatever is needed."
Wade is just a 28 percent shooter from 3-point range during his career. Last year he shot just 15 percent during the regular season before having a breakout from behind the arc in the playoffs.
"I was happy for him and it was against Boston," Heat guard Tyler Johnson said. "I don't know when he started. He must have been working on his 3-pointer all summer because I didn't see a whole lot of that until the playoffs last year."
