Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has called on the Gunners to move on from head coach Unai Emery after their 1-0 loss to Sheffield United.
The newly-promoted club have been a relevation in the Premier League this season but the Europa League finalists were favourites to win at Bramall Lane.
Instead, they suffered defeat at the hands of Lys Mousset, who put the Blades ahead on the half hour mark. With an hour left to play, Arsenal were unable to find an equaliser, let alone a winning goal.
On his official Twitter account, Frimpong posted a message to say that he was "done" with Emery following the loss and also took aim at Granit Xhaka.
The Swiss midfielder has been cited as one of the players at fault for the Sheffield United goal.
He also questioned the work ethic of the players selected for the match and called for changes in defence, especially at full-back with Calum Chambers singled out for criticism.
Rob Holding was one player Frimpong named as a solution to Emery's problems.
The 27-year-old Ghana international called time on his own playing career in 2019, eight years after making his debut for Arsenal in 2011.
He joined the club at nine years of age and left in 2014 to join Barnsley after three loan moves to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Charlton Athletic and Fulham.
Frimpong left England behind in 2014 for spells in Russia with Ufa and Arsenal Tula before ultimately winding down his career in Sweden with Eskilstuna and Cypriot club Ermis Aradippou.
In March 2019, he announced his retirement as a footballer on his Twitter account but has maintained a connection with the game, especially as a fan of Arsenal.
During the match against Sheffield United he posted a series of critical tweets.
"Work rate that's all I ask for," wrote the former Premier League footballer. "What does Xhaka give us.
"Change full backs, play holding," he added in a further message. "Look I appreciate chambers is trying his very best as a centre-back but don't you think we need more than that to compete."
