Gogglebox star Tom Malone Jr has lifted the lid on some of the hit show’s closely-guarded secrets.
Tom announced in February that he was quitting the Channel 4 show after six and half years on our TV screens.
And now he’s left, the 26-year-old has been more than happy to spill the beans on what really goes on behind-the-scenes to help make the show such a success.
“We weren’t allowed to order or drink alcohol, because I don’t think the show would work if we were all there slurring our words,” revealed Tom. “It would be a different type of show! [And] they [the producers] just order us a takeaway.
"We just get to chose which takeaway we want and they will order it in. That was probably the best thing about Gogglebox for me – the amount of takeaways. I loved it.
“Obviously if you were like I want caviar and this and that brought to my door then they would probably say it’s a bit much.
In an interview with The Sun he added: “But we are a very simple family, so it was KFC and Nando's. It was good, I was living the dream.”
The Malone family returned for series 18 of the show, but Tom was a notable absentee as he decided to pursue new work projects.
Tom is a respected choregrapher and is a popular TikTok star who has now performed with Rita Ora, Fergie and Wiley.
And while his family continue to be a big hit on the show, Tom wouldn’t change his decision, even though he was forced to defend his decision to quit.
He stressed on Twitter when he left: “Just to clear a few things up: I didn’t “Quit” the show…I left on good terms.
"My girlfriend never even wanted to be on the show and had nothing I do with me leaving.
"I wasn’t scared to say something stupid. Anyone spouting these narratives are spreading fabrications."
Tom took to his Instagram account in February to alert his loyal fans of his departure.
“So after 6 and a half years it’s finally time to put down the remote, and to say goodbye to Gogglebox," he penned at the time.
"I’ve loved every minute and I’m eternally grateful to @channel4 and @studiolambert for allowing me to be a part of the show.
"But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.
"I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid.
"PS. Don’t worry my family @themalonesgb and @shaunmalone95 will still be on the show to keep you guys entertained every Friday.
