Ex-Giants QB Jared Lorenzen ‘still very sick,’ but continues fighting

Former New York Giants quarterback Jared Lorenzen remains hospitalized and in ICU as he battles an infection and various other health-related issues, but the weekend came and went without any major changes, which his family considers a positive.

Only a few short days after saying Lorenzen was “fighting with everything he has,” his family maintains that the fighter in him is still kicking as he works to rebound.

“Jared overnight was uneventful and that is a good thing. He remains on dialysis. He continues to maintain his ground. His cardiac and renal issues remain(,) however his treatment has been effective. Jared is still very sick … but developing some traction and remains a fighter. The entire family thanks you for your support and prayers,” the Lorenzen family said in a statement, via Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio.

Lorenzen spent four years with the Giants from 2004-2007, serving as Eli Manning’s backup and earning a championship ring as part of the Super Bowl XLII team.
