Ex-Giant Jason Pierre-Paul injured in Florida auto accident

Former New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was rushed to a hospital Thursday morning after crashing his SUV in Broward County, Florida.

TMZ Sports reports that Pierre-Paul has since been released from the hospital, is “doing fine” and was not cited or accused of any wrongdoing.

“We have been informed that Jason was involved in a one-car accident early this morning in South Florida in which he was not cited,” Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said in a statement. “We know that he was evaluated at a local hospital and has since been released.

“Our immediate concern is for the safety and well-being of Jason and his passenger. We have been in contact with Jason and will be getting him further evaluated by our medical staff in the near future.”

While with the Giants in 2015, Pierre-Paul missed time after infamously losing a finger and parts of two others in a July 4 fireworks accident. However, despite doubt, JPP was able to return to the field and play at a high level.

The Giants traded Pierre-Paul to Tampa Bay in March 2018 shortly after Dave Gettleman took over as the team’s general manager.
