Renowned former gangster Ian 'Blink' MacDonald has avoided jail after stealing his partner’s car in “a moment of madness” at a Lanarkshire fastfood restaurant.
The convicted bank robber admitted driving off in girlfriend Ashley’s Range Rover after a row at McDonald’s, Bellshill, in May.
The 61-year-old – who later dumped the vehicle in nearby Uddingston – also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour towards the 35-year-old.
He was handed a community payback order at Hamilton Sheriff Court yesterday and told to get help with his drug and drink problems.
The court heard the couple were hoping to reconcile following a stormy period in their relationship.
