Ex-Falcons star Jamal Anderson arrested after allegedly stiffing limo driver

ATLANTA _ Former Atlanta Falcons player Jamal Anderson was arrested in Gwinnett County Saturday after arguing with his limo driver over a $50 ride, Channel 2 Action News reported.

According to a warrant obtained by the news station, Anderson, 46, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication after he allegedly refused to pay the driver. He has since bonded out of jail.

The driver called police Saturday night and claimed Anderson couldn't pay. When officers arrived, they found Anderson without any cash and suspected he was drunk, police said in the arrest warrant.

The former running back played eight seasons with the Falcons before a knee injury ended his career in 2001. Since then, the offensive star of the Falcons' 1998 Super Bowl team, best known for his "Dirty Bird" touchdown dance, has been arrested in metro Atlanta several times on DUI and other charges.

In 2016, Anderson was banned from a QuikTrip store in Gwinnett County after allegedly exposing himself and appearing intoxicated in Suwanee, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

He was not arrested during that incident because the clerk did not want to prosecute, according to police. Instead, he was issued a warning for criminal trespass.

Channel 2's attempts to reach Anderson's representatives for comment were unsuccessful Sunday.
