Former Everton star Marouane Fellaini sends message after testing positive for coronavirus

Former Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has tested positive for coronavirus.

The ex-Blues man is playing for Shandong Luneng in the Chinese Super League and in a post on their website confirmed he tested positive for Covid-19.

Fellaini then posted a message on Twitter to update supporters on his condition.

"Dear friends, I have been tested for coronavirus and my test result is positive," he said.

"Thanks to the fans, medical staff and the club for their care and attention. I will follow the treatment and hope to return to the game as soon as possible. Please everyone stay safe."

The Belgium international moved to Asia in February of last year in a £10.5m transfer from Manchester United after spending five-and-a-half-years at Old Trafford.

He left Everton for the Red Devils in 2013, following the arrival of Roberto Martinez, and linked back up with David Moyes who had left Goodison to be United's manager.

Reports claim that Fellaini is the first player in the Chinese Super League to test positive for coronavirus.
