- Japan head coach Eddie Jones has been suspended and had his pay docked by the Japanese Rugby Football Union (JRFU) for verbally abusing match officials.
- The disciplinary action follows incidents that took place during an U23 tour to Australia in April.
- As a consequence, Jones will miss four national team fixtures, including the start of Japan’s Nations Championship campaign against Italy on 4 July.
- He has also received a six-week ban from all coaching activity and a reduction in his salary.
- Former England coach Jones issued an apology, expressing deep regret for his “inappropriate remarks” and behaviour, and pledged to ensure such incidents do not recur.
